I'd been using a 70D with the 17-40 lens, but then replaced that with a Tokina 11-20 f28, for real estate jobs. After I got the 5D, I upgraded to the Canon 16-35 lens. The issue is the focusing on the 5D is not as accurate as the 70D. I work on a tripod, and when the shot is framed, I'll press the shutter half way to get the correct focus points.
Options. 11-19-2022 06:21 PM. I recently purchased a 70-200mm F2.8L USM lens and when I hold the shutter button half way, the lens is just focusing back and forth, and not finding anything to focus on. If it does focus on an image,80% of the time the image is out of focus. Iāve tried it on a T5 and an 80D but the problem still exists.
With all of my lenses - 50mm 2.8 macro, 24-105mm 4f L, and 85mm 1.2f II L, I cannot get auto focus to work with my Mark 5dIII. The minute I set the camera to "Auto" the auto focus works perfectly. I don't like shooting in "Auto" but with the 85mm it is almost a necessity to have Auto Focus working. Can someone please help me troubleshoot?

I have recently-purchased 6D Mark II camera and EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS II lens. The past few days the lens will not autofocus at 400mm some of the time. If I zoom out to 250mm, focus, then zoom back to 400mm, it will focus. I can re-create the problem easily on the 6D, but on my older 5D Mark III the lens works perfectly. The 50/ 1.4 uses Micro Motor USM not the higher end Ring Type USM AF Motor. A lot of Micro Motor lenses DO NOT support Full Time Manual Focus. The 50/ 1.4 is a bit special in this case that it does. It supports Full Time Manual Focus because there is an additional clutch system that Ring Type USM lenses have. 1. I have tried two different lenses with the same result (EF 70-200 F4L IS USM and the EF 100 F2,8L IS macro) 2. I have cleaned the lense contacts on both the body and the lense. 3. I've upgraded from firmware 1.2.3 to 1.3.3 and reset the camera to factory settings. 4. I've changed focus back to the shutter button. Canon DSLRs donāt feature focus peaking at all. You can only use focus peaking on cameras with Magic Lantern. ML is third-party software that extends Canon camerasā features. The problem is that Magic Lantern is not yet developed for many of Canonās newest DSLRs. That includes the 1DX series, the 5D MkIV, the 7D MkII, the 80D and 90D, and
"Even if I had both the 24-70 and the 70-200, I think I'd still want the 24-105 as my third lens." Bedsides the Canon duo, I have the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 and the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 and the 70-200mm f2.8 and still I have the 24-105mm f4. Matter of fact I have/had two of them! It For video I suggest the 5d III. The 5dIII has better options for video with Magic Lantern (higher resolution options and framerate options). Don't expect much from autofocus. I heard a rumor that the Canon 6D similar to the 5d MKII cant autofocus in HD Video. That can't be If that is true Canon severely crippled the 6D. 5D Mark II CAN autofocus during HD video, but it's terrible. Phase detection AF can't be used because that requires the mirror to be down, which blocks the sensor. The 18-55 STM, and 18-135 STM (or 18-135 USM) have virtually silent AF that does not move during AF or MF. The 50mm lens has a noisy AF that moves during AF or MF. With both the 18-55 and 18-135, any AF or MF movement takes place inside the lens and is not visible or audible to the user.
